First love can last a lifetime if you never let it go.
First love can hurt forever if you never tell him so.
I wanted him to love me and, if I truly knew it then,
I kept it from us both to prevent our hurt again.
But how I wish I hadn’t, how I wish instead I’d been
A braver warrior for our love, as, looking back, I’ve seen
That he indeed did love me, just couldn’t tell me so.
Though now we’re living separate lives, I’ve never let him go.

Entirely Lovely 🙂
Thanks and Happy New Year Morgan x
Oh this is so sad but beautiful. I expect it resonates with many; it certainly does so with me 😊
Thank you 🙂 Happy New Year!
Yes, sad and beautiful. It pays to be brave – for then at least you know for sure…
Indeed, we learn the virtues of bravery through one kind of pain or another.
I appreciate your comments Freya.
what a hard bit of reality…in some ways we get out of love what we put into it…and we have to be willing to get dirty and dig in if we are really commited to love….its def work…nice rhyme scheme as well…
Hard work for sure! I appreciate your comments.
Awww… this speaks such truth to the human spirit and our tangled relationships. And our even more messy relationships with Love. Nice work, Emily!
Tangled indeed. Didn’t someone else write about that recently too…? 😉
good 😀
Thank you Andre. Glad you liked it.
